We filed the complaint before the ACHPR on 24 September 2018. The case pertains to police arrest and torture of Cathy Basongo (member of the civil society group called Filimbi) in September 2016 following a sit-down protest organized by Filimbi to pressurize the electoral commission to publish the electoral calendar. During the incident, she was severely tortured, with her dress torn in public, resulting in injuries, bleeding and miscarriage. Cathy’s lawyer filed a complaint against the head of the police in the Province of Tshopo before the Auditorat Militaire Supérieur on 26 November 2016. Since then no proper investigation has been conducted.
