Banjul, 31 May 2024: IHRDA and partners in joint statement express concern on proposed bill to decriminalize Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia. We call on Government of Gambia to stand firm in its commitment under international treaties to protect women/girls’ rights, by maintaining and enforcing laws which criminalize FGM and other harmful practices.
