Banjul, 31 July 2023: IHRDA, in partnership with The Forum Against Harmful Practices (FAHP) and Purposeful, files case against Sierra Leone for failing to protect victim of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). The case seeks, among others, to compel Government of Sierra Leone to adopt laws criminalising FGM/C, as there is currently no law criminalising/punishing the practice in Sierra Leone.
