Banjul, 26 June 2023: IHRDA has completed a 2-day refresher workshop, 22-23 June 2023, for members of the Togo pool of lawyers and human rights defenders (POOL-ADDH TOGO) that aims to strengthen human rights monitoring and advocacy in Togo, and support access to justice for victims of human rights violation.

The workshop enabled POOL-ADDH Togo to take stock of its functioning since its inception in December 2021, assess its achievements and challenges, and define targets for the next twelve months. The workshop also enabled Pool members to refresh their knowledge of human rights strategic litigation and the use of regional and international human rights legal instruments and mechanisms to advance human rights in Togo.

It should be recalled that the Pool, coordinated by Centre de Documentation et de Formation sur les Droits de l’Homme, was created within the framework of a project funded by the National Endowment for Democracy to build a legal environment for the protection of human rights in Togo. This refresher workshop is a follow up to the previous phases of the initiative, which began in October 2020.
