ABUJA, Nigeria, October 4, 2022: The Center for Justice and Accountability and partners, IHRDA and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, have filed suit against Liberia on behalf of a Liberian NGO (Global Justice & Research Project) and survivors of a brutal 1990 massacre of about 600 people who were taking refuge at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Monrovia during the Liberia Civil War. The case filed at the ECOWAS Court seeks justice, following Liberia’s failure to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the attack, and to provide redress to the victims and their families.
