The Forty-seventh Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) was held on 19th May 2015 in Accra, Republic of Ghana, under the Chairmanship of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana and Chairman of the Authority.

The Heads of State and Government deliberated on a series of pertinent questions affecting the sub-region, notably elections, democracy, governance, peace and security, and the ebola epidemic.

Interestingly, the Summit expressed support for the global campaign on the eradication of statelessness, and approved the Abidjan Declaration adopted on 25th February 2015 in that respect. The Summit equally called on Member States to join this campaign, in particular, through the review of the relevant normative frameworks, adherence to, and compliance with, international conventions adopted to prevent and reduce statelessness.
