Duty Station: Banjul, The Gambia (with occasional regional travel)

The Institute for Human Rights and Development in Africa (IHRDA) is searching for a highly competent Administration and Human Resources Officer with the aptitude and attitude to work within a fast-paced, international environment as part of a dynamic team that is committed to promoting and protecting human rights and development in Africa.

Administration and Human Resources Officer Role at IHRDA:
The Administration and Human Resources Officer will contribute to the fulfilment of the IHRDA’s vision and mission by providing high-level administrative and office coordination support to the organisation, human resource management, and executive support to management. This will include ensuring efficient office operations, solid logistical support to programmes staff on activities and missions and overseeing implementation of human resources policies, systems and processes. The Administration and Human Resources Officer will also provide executive and administrative support to the Executive Director.

Who You Are:
You are a highly motivated and passionate individual with the aptitude and attitude to work within a fast-paced, international multi-cultural environment as part of a dynamic team that is committed to promoting and protecting human rights and development in Africa. You are a highly competent and ethical operator with strong competence in managing logistics, coordinating operations and managing people.

Your Academic and Professional Experience:
• A university degree in a relevant field, such as social sciences, non-profit management, business management, logistics. A post-graduate qualification is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years’ firsthand experience in administration and logistics, and in human resource management.
• Excellent knowledge of organizational systems and processes, and the ability to design and operate systems and processes.
• Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing and presentation tools.
• Experience in database management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with written and spoken fluency in English. Bilingual candidates with functional knowledge of French and/or another African Union language will be strongly preferred.
• Highly organized and committed to high quality work and continuous learning.
• Creative and problem-solving mindset, proactive and able to work independently.
• Self-driven leader and committed to elevate, redefine and shift the needle in organizational efficiency.
• Ability and willingness to work within a cross-functional, multi-cultural, and multi-lingual team.
• Understanding of human rights and the African human rights system is an added advantage.
