Freetown, 28 February 2024: IHRDA and AdvocAid obtain landmark judgement in Sierra Leone police accountability case before ECOWAS Court. Case concerns shooting of victim called Mohamed Morlu during peaceful public protest in March 2017. Court declares Sierra Leone failed in its responsibility to guarantee Plaintiff’s rights to remedy, personal security and freedom from torture; orders Sierra Leone to pay him monetary compensation for damages.
