Strengthening the legal environment for protection of human rights in Mali and Guinea

This project was funded by National Endowment for Democracy (NED), USA from July 2015 to June 2016. Activities included:

1. Human rights training and a case identification workshops for Malian and Guinean judicial officers and lawyers/CSOs;

2. Case-building missions which culminated in the preparation and filing of four strategic case, two against each of the countries involved
In all, we trained more than 25 judicial officers and and more than 30 lawyers/CSOs in each of the countries.
The cases against Mali were filed before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, while those against Guinea were filed before the ECOWAS Court of Justice. (Please explore the menu on “Legal Work” for more information on the cases.
